Environmental awareness raising
campaign
NGO Front 21/42 decided to use New year 2006 to launch an environmental awareness raising
campaign which unites the good wishes and positive emotions with high awareness and human
responsibility.The campaign was sponsored by 4 organizations: UNDP, The Ministry of Environment
and Physical Planning, the British Embassy and Mobimak
In order to achieve the general goal of the campaign: to motivate an active individual participation, the greeting cards were used to send an
awakening message:
“Climate change is our reality.
Do something about it!
Begin the New Year with a new life.
Plant a tree!”
The call for higher awareness was united with positive, yet ‘awakening’ New
Year wishes, one for each natural element:
1. “We wish you pure water”;
2. “We wish you friendly sun”;
3. “We wish you fertile soil”;
4. “We wish you clean air”.
And one slogan carried by all cards: “Happy New Tree!”
In order to reach a wide population and fulfill the goals of the campaign, both general and
specific - the greeting cards were distributed in several ways:
1. The greatest part (30,000 cards) were inserted in Dnevnik, a daily newspaper with highest
print.
Thus, the campaign reached 30,000 Skopje citizens as a specific target group.
2. All 4 sponsoring organizations used the cards from the campaign as this year
greeting cards.
Thus, the campaign reached a wide range of targets throughout the country: from government
agencies and all municipalities to foreign representatives and business associates.
