"Capacity
Building for Improving the Quality of Greenhouse Gas Inventories
(Europe/CIS region)"
Macedonia is one of twelve countries participating in the regional
project Capacity Building for Improving the Quality of Greenhouse
Gas Inventories (Europe/CIS region). The project will initiate
a regional programmatic approach developed to build capacity
for improving the quality of data inputs to national greenhouse
gas inventories, using the good practice guidance of the Intergovernmental
Panel for Climate Change for cost-effectiveness. The project
will build on the expertise gained during the preparation of
the initial National Communications. By strengthening institutional
capacity to prepare inventories and establishing a trained,
sustainable inventory team, the project will help countries
to reduce uncertainties and improve the quality of inventories
for subsequent National Communications. This will allow countries
to improve national strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The project includes common activities for all participating
countries carried out under a regional umbrella; countries may
choose the remaining activities to carry out, based on national
priorities. The approach has been built on the concept of key
sources of emissions; this allows the approach to be replicated
for use in other regions with only minor modifications.
Main
objectives of the project are:
- Strengthen
institutional arrangements for compiling, archiving, updating,
and managing greenhouse gas inventories
- Create
Sustainable Inventory Process
- Enhance
technical capacity for preparing national inventories
- Improve
methodologies and emission factors
Position
of the National Inventory Team Leader is shared between the:
National Coordinator of Climate Change Enabling Activities,
Maja Azievska
National Inventory Team Leader, Natasa Markovska.
